Notre Dame football has continued its strong Signing Day run as Hampton, Virginia athlete Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has committed tot he Fighting Irish. Jeremiah was another late target by the staff, earning his offer just a couple of weeks ago. At the time, he was committed to Virginia. But after an official visit to Michigan State and a visit from Brian Kelly, Jeremiah decided to open things back up. This one was close down to the wire, but the Irish pulled it out in the end.

Highlights

Jeremiah’s highlights are extremely impressive. First off, he uses his highlights to show off his very good SAT score (pretty sure that’s around the 85th percentile). But they also show a very good athlete who could play numerous positions in the Notre Dame defense. He has the athleticism to play strong safety and the physicality necessary to play linebacker. He look very comfortable in the box shooting gaps to make tackles in the run game. There are even a few clips of him rushing the passer. He’s got to add on some size (he’s 6-2/195 pounds right now), but once he does he looks like a perfect fit for the hybrid Rover position in Elko’s 4-2-5.

Impact

I’m thinking Jeremiah sees the field on special teams this year, maybe at Rover in small doses. He’s a nice upgrade to the athleticism that Notre Dame has at linebacker right now, and once he adds some size he should be ready to contribute. This is a really smart kid, and he should be able to pick up Elko’s “likeable and learnable” defense pretty quickly. I definitely see him as a contributor within the next couple of years, and it’s easy to imagine him starting down the road.

Welcome to the Irish family, Jeremiah!
