Alright, I’m gonna be short and (not so) sweet here, and also publish this before the game even ends. Whether NC State wins this by 20, 30, or 40 makes little difference to me. The Irish turned in maybe the worst performance in the Mike Brey era today. It’s been obvious for awhile that this team can’t shoot. But what haven’t been problems are laziness, smarts, and grit. Those were all missing today in ways that I’ve honestly never seen from a Mike Brey coached team.

I’ll be shocked if Notre Dame bests NC State in a single statistical category today. They were thoroughly outplayed in every way. You can make your Bonzie Colson excuses when you lose close games and still fight your way through the schedule. You can make no excuses for today’s atrocious no-show against an at-best mediocre Wolfpack team.

The season is lost. The Tournament ain’t happening. There’s a decent chance Mike Brey has lost this team because what else is there to say? What other buttons are there to push? Two straight blowouts in the state of North Carolina speak volumes about where this team is at. Rock bottom.

Maybe Matt Farrell can turn around his nightmare senior season and lead this team to…something better than this. Maybe DJ Harvey’s eventual return can rejuvenate the lineup. Or maybe all this “valuable” experience starts to result in observable gains to these guys who have been thrown into some difficult roles.

But right now, this is all headed towards one of the worst conference seasons ever. What a depressing season.
