Some people don’t like the all-white look and those people are weirdos. Our first concept “Golden Dome Icy White” kicked off this series with an all-white uniform that is among my favorites to date. Today, we return to a dominant white concept with a familiar twist.
Back in 2012 the Irish opened the season in Dublin, Ireland against Navy with Notre Dame as the designated away team. I’m sure everyone remembers the easy 50-10 victory and early-morning celebration. You may also remember that Notre Dame sported Irish flag themed cleats and socks on the visit to Dublin:
Unfortunately, the theme wasn’t carried out to the rest of the uniform, although it was the first time in a long time that the Irish wore predominantly white socks/cleats with the away sets and it looked terrific. This concept today was all about trying to create something that would’ve worked well that day in Ireland.
Simple, sharp, and effective. That’s the look we were going for here. Although they don’t traditionally wear all-white we didn’t outline the jersey numbers in orange in order to provide more differentiation from the Miami Hurricanes. The shoulders, pants, and socks all feature a simple orange/white/green striping pattern to mimic the Irish flag.
On the helmet we’ve placed the 2nd of the 3 modern leprechauns with it’s lighter green and deeper yellow colors to help match the uniform a little better. On the chest and hip we’ve placed the “Irish” script in green underlined in orange. We may revisit this altered script placement in the future as well.
